President's Message

CELEBRATING 30 YEARS
1978 to 2008

The California Association of Labor Relations Officers (CALRO) is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Since its inception, CALRO has been dedicated to providing training and resources to aid all law enforcement officers in handling labor disputes in an impartial and professional manner.

In the coming year, we anticipate many new challenges. The rising costs of health care and the looming recession promise to increase organized labor activities throughout the country. Law enforcement needs to maintain a consistent and united response to these activities. In order to avoid costly litigation and hours spent responding to complaints from both labor and management it is important to be up to date on the latest case-law and court decisions. CALRO will provide both the training and resources for you to gain this valuable information.

CALRO offers law enforcement officers the opportunity to network and communicate with other agencies in dealing with labor issues that frequently cross jurisdictions. It is our hope that each agency would dedicate a representative to act as a liaison to labor relations and join CALRO.

Our annual conference will be held at the Wyndham Hotel and Resort in Palm Springs, California, June 4th through the 6th. Please join us this year and forward the conference information to agencies surrounding your area.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or one of the directors.
